Colorful Macaws..

Hi Friends,

    After a long time, I've worked on a glass painting. Had a similar work, which got sold in Chitrasanthe last year. Unfortunately I don't have the photograph of that work, so thought of doing that again, for my portfolio :) This time, I have taken a bigger glass of size 13 X 30 inches, to accommodate two Macaws.

    Here are photographs taken in different background.

     Have plans to make some more colorful birds on glass, but don't know when I will be able to spend time on them.

    Most colorful, enchanting and delightful festival of our country ... Deepavali is back.. May the divine light of Deepavali spread into your life peace, prosperity, happiness and good health ....

    Keeping the tradition alive, I am sharing my recent work .. A Yellow Rose.. oil color on canvas of size 15 X 22 inches. This work was there in the basic stage for a long time and one of my students noticed that and insisted me to complete it before I start another one.

   Yellow ... the color of sunshine, hope and happiness .. and is the best color to suit my current situation very well :)

Vanda Orchid - Clay Flower

Hi,

  I am back with another clay flower this time - a colorful Vanda Orchid, which is of height 19 inches including the base.

  After going through my earlier blogs on clay flower, few craft enthusiasts contacted me for the details of making these flowers. So I thought of providing the details here, although I forgot to take the photographs of earlier stages.. will try to do that next time onwards.

  Here are the steps -  

   - mix the clay with oil paint to give the base color

   - flatten the clay, individually cut and shape the petals and leaves using the cutters

   - air-dry the individual pieces for about 24 hours

   - hand-paint the pieces to match the fine detail and subtle shading of actual flowers

   - assemble the various pieces into whole flowers, adding stems made of clay, supported by wire

   - place the individual flowers into a pre-selected pot or on a piece of driftwood.

  Constructing the flowers and arrangements is time consuming as it requires too much detailing. 

If you are planning to make one, please keep in mind that the “base” can greatly enhance the character of the arrangement. So ensure that you give great care in matching the base with the arrangement.

Handcrafted Tulips

Hi Friends,

   Here is my latest work, Tulips made out of Thai clay. I have read about Tulip gardens of Netherlands in a magazine recently. The photographs in that magazine inspired me so much that I thought of trying some flowers using Thai air dry clay, which is very flexible and durable. Also it's an ideal one for sculpting flower and to captivate the realistic beauty.

  Usually Tulip blooms during the spring, but these handcrafted flowers can decorate your place throughout the year with least maintenance. You can just use a dry soft brush to dust off.

  I have created a new category for 'Clay Flowers' in my blog, so you can expect more in the coming days :)

Radha Krishna - Mural

  Wishing you a very happy Krishna Janmashtami in advance... as I will be out of town for few days, am updating my blog today itself and I'm very happy to share my latest mural with you all :) 

  I was planning to work on Lord Krishna for a while so I spent some time on Google for the references, but nothing impressed me at all.. finally tried my own concept which gave importance to both mural and painting ...but Coloring was a difficult task considering lot of details involved here.Somehow I managed to meet my expectation and hope I gave justice to it.

    I must say that I gained loads of confidence and satisfaction from this work and got full marks from my best critic - my husband :) I would like to hear your opinion as well.  

Size : 2 *2.5 ft 

    When I shared the initial pics with a so called mural expert,  he forced me to stop the work without giving any useful suggestion because he felt it is a very difficult one for a beginner like me. He indicated that I am wasting my time and money. I took his negative words as a challenge and probably worked even harder. So I should thank him for this work ;) ...

    On a serious note, I have learnt through this work that  - “Never let anyone convince you of anything negative about yourself unless it is for your own betterment.”

Beaded Flowers

Hello friends,

Here is one of my old crafts, beaded flowers and a vase... thought of sharing with you all. I have used tiny round seed beads of different colors here and beaded with 0.3 mm metallic wire. 

I made this during one of my college vacations and I felt bad at that time because it consumed half of my vacation... but the result was a brilliant and bold cluster of flowers and even more vibrant vase. The best part is, it lasts for so long and looks so fresh even today. 

Nowadays we get so many tutorials, patterns and references for beading crafts but that time I had nothing like that... apart from some observations here and there and pure imagination :)
