Radha Krishna - Mural

Hello Friends,

Wishing you a very happy Krishna Janmashtami in advance... as I will be out of town for few days, am updating my blog today itself and I'm very happy to share my latest mural with you all :)

I was planning to work on Lord Krishna for a while so I spent some time on Google for the references, but nothing impressed me at all.. finally tried my own concept which gave importance to both mural and painting ...but Coloring was a difficult task considering lot of details involved here.Somehow I managed to meet my expectation and hope I gave justice to it.

I must say that I gained loads of confidence and satisfaction from this work and got full marks from my best critic - my husband :) I would like to hear your opinion as well.

Size : 2 *2.5 ft

When I shared the initial pics with a so called mural expert,  he forced me to stop the work without giving any useful suggestion because he felt it is a very difficult one for a beginner like me. He indicated that I am wasting my time and money. I took his negative words as a challenge and probably worked even harder. So I should thank him for this work ;) ...

On a serious note, I have learnt through this work that  - “Never let anyone convince you of anything negative about yourself unless it is for your own betterment.”

Here are some more pics taken in mobile from the initial phases of this work.

Many people just go through the pictures in the blog, but you have read it till the end, thanks a lot :)... Have a wonderful day.

On a mission to complete the pending orders,,,,

Hi Friends,

Here is my latest mural of size 2 ft * 2 ft, which I did for my neighbor. In fact, I did a similar work long time back, which was smaller in size.

Although I don't like to work on the same design more than once, I was forced to do so as she was interested only on this and out-rightly rejected many beautiful designs :)

This order was pending for a very long time as I was quite busy with my work, really appreciate her patience here.

The best part is, she is very happy with the outcome and seeing the happiness on her face itself paid me back for my hard work :)

Have a gr8 day, bye

Happy Ganesh Chaturthi

/hihi
Here is my way of wishing you all a very happy Ganesh Chaturthi, through a mural. In fact, this is my first Mixed Media Mural !

It is a combination of Cermaic, Clay, Siporex, Glass and Copper on a plywood base and painted using oil color. As plywood is used as the base for this work, this can be only used for interior purpose.

I have used Siporex, light weight cement block, for Ganesha. As this is my first experience with carving the stone, I felt it's tough although I could manage that using a knife.

Glass pieces and pebbles are used here for the texture on the glass, with epoxy coating.

After a long time, I got the complete satisfaction from this work. Good appreciation in FB is icing on the cake :)

Happy Festive Season :) /bye

My First Mural ...

/hihi
Wish you a very happy Ganesha Chaturthi to you all ... I will be in my native place during the festival, so wishing you well in advance. We celebrate Ganesha Chaturthi in a grand manner compared to other festivals in Sirsi, probably due to the extended influence of Chatrapati Shivaji. As you must be aware of, historical records reveal that Ganesha Chaturthi celebrations were initiated in Maharashtra by Shivaji, to promote culture and nationalism.

In one of my earlier posts, I had uploaded a work-in-progress Ganesha mural. I somehow managed to complete that today and posting it here.

When I started this, I did not give much importance to the traditional aspect of Ganesha. I made Ganesha with Right Sided trunk, after speaking to the family members and reading some articles I came to know that usually we don't keep the idol with right sided trunk at home. Since I used m-seal and it was already dried up, so I could not just change the trunk alone, I had to remove the work completely and start everything from the scratch :( . But the good thing is - it came up better than the earlier one.

I took a 12 X 18 inches mdf board as the base and Shilpkar, white m-seal which is used for craft work (used 1.5 kg of m-seal). As m-seal becomes harder within 10-15 minutes once you mix it, you have to  mix only the required quantity and to be really quick to get the appropriate shape. Moulds for some of the basic shapes like leaf, flower, lamp, bell etc. are available in the market, I thought it's not worth spending  money for those items. As this work is completely hand made, the shapes are not symmetrical :) I have used knife, broken spoon, pen refill and some of the clay modeling tools to get the required design. By the way I have used mustard seeds for the texture surrounding Ganesha.

Some more photographs are uploaded here - https://picasaweb.google.com/aasha.bhat/MyFirstMural

I made a mistake in positioning the eyes, doesn't look like an elephant but  looks like human eyes :) I was kind of desperate to finish this today, and realized the mistake only after I am almost done. Now I don't have time to correct it, will do that sometime next week and upload here again. Finally I need to apply varnish and put a frame once I am back in Bangalore.

PS : I know some of you had issues in viewing the animation video uploaded in my post titled 'Its time to share an animation work'. It works well with IE7.0 and Firefox 3.6.20, please upgrade your browser and try once again.

Best wishes for a peaceful and happy festive season! /bye
