Hand Woven Swing ...

/hihi

Here is my latest craft work - Jhula (Swing) made of Chinese knotting cord. I forgot the name of the knot which I used here as I have learnt this craft around 6 years ago.

This nylon cord has nice texture that helps to hold the knots in place and of course we have to tie the knot very tightly for these kind of works. To keep it from fraying you can melt the ends with flame. The good thing is - you can wash this work with mild detergent whenever required.

Using this simple knot pattern itself you can make varieties of wall hangings, table mats, handbags, mobile covers etc,,  All it takes is a little patience for these kind of hand weaving crafts as it is very tedious process. But I'am sure once you finish the work, you will forget all the difficulties you had and will be completely satisfied.

The Maharashtrian Lady

/hihi

Here is my latest work, oil on canvas... my version of Raja Ravi Varma's - 'The Maharashtrian Lady' :)  This was there in my last blog on Chitra Santhe, but thought of uploading it in a separate blog with a larger image.

I have finished this just couple of days before Chitra Santhe. As it was wet, I kept on requesting people not to touch the work. Unfortunately most of them didn't listen, so blessed with the fingerprints of so many :)  I gave one more touch up to the saree later.

Coming back to the work, its of size 24" * 36" and the largest canvas I have used so far. It took many months to complete this, of course I did not work continuously. As I was trying Ravi Varma's work, I wanted to give my best.

I never gave importance to my signature earlier, but now I have finalized that and will use the same from here onwards. I have been asked by few about the mismatch of my signature in some of the paintings, I was under the impression that only bank employees give so much importance to this !!

For those who have missed it ...

/hihi

Chitra Santhe, the annual art exhibition was held at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath on 27th of last month and I was lucky to get a stall there. I tried my best to spread the news through social media on 26th, the day on which the stalls were allotted :)

For all those people who have visited the stall and appreciated my work, I will use this as an opportunity to thank them. As the title suggests, this blog is for those who have missed Chitra Santhe this time, I am uploading some of the pictures from my stall here. I am there in almost all the photos, please don't mind :)

These are the paintings were there in my stall ....

It was an amazing experience for me, to have a stall with so many great artists all over the country (of course I felt inferior after seeing their work).I got some valuable suggestions/tips for my work, of course, got appreciation as well. So many people were interested in buying paintings which I have decided not to sell !!!

Overall, being a hobby artist I gained so much confidence from this event... I got many ideas to prepare myself for the next year., thank you Chitra Santhe :)
